from the World Conference 2014 in Hong Kong
The World Conference paves the way for the next triennium. The goal is that all girls and young women discover their fullest potential. The success of Guiding is based on the full support of all Member Organisations and external partners to achieve this mission.
WAGGGS is doing its best to improve its membership strategies in order to have an increased and diversified membership. Image and visibility are fundamental pillars and these should be present on global, regional and national levels. Public recognition is paramount to attract and retain members, donors and volunteers. Successful programmes influence issues that affect the lives of girls and young women. Sustainable development, gender equality, education and financial stability amongst others leave a concrete impact on the well-being and self-esteem of young people.
The different cultures of the Member Organisations strengthen the quality of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting experience. The Guiding spirit connects all members; it has generated the powerful movement we have today. Impactful leadership is an asset of Guiding. MOs are encouraged to establish national programmes on governance promoting the advancement of girls and young women. Believing in growth is extremely important however it also leads to a continuous need to funding.
This is an ambitious vision but nothing is going to stop WAGGGS from evolving for the best interest of girls and young women. We need to understand that change doesn’t happen overnight but does not make us give up.
