1923 - 2013
This year, the Malta Girl Guides are celebrating 90 years of Guiding in Malta. This is very special milestone for us and we would like to celebrate it with all our members!
The theme we have chosen is “Imagine More... Be Special... Be a Girl Guide...” because Guiding can be all that you imagine, and so much more!
Some of the activities are...
90th Anniversary Exhibition
1923 - 2013 'follow the footsteps'
An exhibition with photos, documents and uniforms dating back to 1910 up to 2013 have been placed on display at our Island Headquarters in Floriana and launched on the 25th of October 2013 where adult volunteers were invited for the launch and opening. Volunteers young and old enjoyed and appreciated every picture and momento whilst reminissing on days that are now beautiful memories of this Guiding Journey. On the 26th of October 2013, the exhibition was then opened up to our younger members, who arrived in style on the yellow train ride. So many highlights for one weekend, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Photos have been uploaded onto our gallery section.
90th Anniversary Celebration Fun Day & Mass
On the 25th of May 2013, all our members were invited to attend a big celebration day in Marsaskala where we celebrated mass together and then held different games for all ages at the new park. From a football tournament, to abseiling, games and so much more. It was a day to remember and a great way to start off the celebrations.
Meeting H.E. The President of Malta
We also had a courtesy visit with H.E. The President of Malta, Dr. Abela, to commemorate this special year and presented him with our new 90th Anniversary badge engraved on glass. H.E. had time to talk to our members and adult volunteers on the day too. It was held on the 12th of September 2013 at the Sant Anton Palace and was such a special day for us all.
